In this article, electromagnet layouts are presented, which generate a magnetic field with magnitude gradient that does not vary significantly in horizontal plane but decreases monotonically the vertical height above magnet. Such one-direction is specific requirement for density separation (MDS), novel recycling technology combines ferrofluid to separate mixture of non-magnetic materials based on their mass density.
